Dear Ms. Drolet and Ms. Greig:

Congratulations to you, the Fairlington Historic Designation Committee, the residents of Fairlington and all those volunteers who worked so hard to make the placement of the Fairlington Community on the Virginia Landmarks Register and National Register of Historic Places a reality.

Fairlington is rich in its historical value. From its establishment by the Defense Homes Corporation (DHC) as a World War II-era apartment community for defense workers to its 1947 conversion into a rental community to its 70s-era rebirth via the condominium, Fairlington has remained as an integral part of the Northern Virginia region.

Fairlington adapted to the new circumstances in an ever changing region. As a result, you have honored the wishes of Fairlington's original architects by making this community a permanent presence in Virginia.

I offer my congratulations as you celebrate your victory as a community in gaining the proper historical recognition for Fairlington on a state and national level, and I wish Fairlington every future success.
